The acting Inspector General of Police Muhammad Adamu said kidnappers and armed bandits pertaking in organised crimes in the state are now disorganized and running helter-skelter.
Speaking during the launch of Operation Puff Adder in Gusau, the state capital, the IGP who was represented by the Assistant Inspector General of police in charge of zone 10, Sokoto , Mustapha A Muhammad said the launch of exercise Harbin Kunama III by the military and the Puff Adder by the Police had disorganized the criminals in the state.
He said they had recorded success, and with the launching of Operation Puff Adder they were going to consolidate on earlier gains adding that the operation would stamp out kidnappers and other criminals.
“I’m warning our foot soldiers to always abide by the rules of engagement and display a high sense of professionalism. We will work together with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force so that they don’t make fatal mistakes, ” he added.
The IGP then called on the royal fathers to circulate the message to their respective domains and tasked them on intelligence gathering and sharing adding that the security operatives need the support of all and sundry.
In his remarks, the state commissioner of police Mr Celestine Okoye said over 2,500 personnel would be deployed for the operation warning the criminals that their days would be numbered.
He then commended the IGP for introducing the Operation saying that it definitely go along way in stamping out crimes and bringing peace to communities across the federation.
